Having recently removed a couple of programs and installed adaware I have
had problems with User Accounts - all the pictures I had set
(for 4 users) have been replaced with the chess one, and when I try and
change them in control panel, all that comes up is a little box with an X in
it (no piccies). Not only that but my own user folder seems to have
disappeared from the Documents and Settings folder, and s/ware (e.g.
Publisher) now won't run because I have apparently not installed it on my
user account. I can though still log on to my own user account. Obviously
something has been corrupted - how can i get it back? I have tried System
Restore but that has not worked, although it did restore my network
connections which ahd also been deleted for some reason. This is very
strange - please help me somebody! Thanks....

Hi

Which particular programs did you uninstall and do you what was removed by
Ad-Aware? The combination of the two could be causing the problem. HAve
you had a look in the Event Viewer to see if any entries there may point
towards the errors?

Hi Will
I tried to uninstall GoZilla, and ad-aware removed alexa, aureate and some
tracking cookies. However it did spot a problem with gozilla which is why I
tried to uninstall it. I can't see anything obvious in Event Viewer(I just
looked because you suggested it), but having said that, I don't really
understand it! Should I have a folder under Documents andSettigns called
"Application Data"? Becuase if so that has gone too. This is really weird
and very annoying. Hope you can help me shed some more light on it.

Hi

Yes, you should have an 'Application Data' folder under Documents and
Settings\<Account Name>. What happens if you create a new user account -
does the that work correctly - including the Welcome screen?

Sorry Will I appear to have emailed you directly - I am new to this
newsgroup subscription thing.
