Could anyone help me? I'am trying to do a system restore, yet the program
(XP) will not restore to ANY previous point, what could be happening?
Thanks a bunch.

I JUST WENT THROUGH THIS MYSELF! HOWEVER, I LOST MY MICROSOFT WORD AND
OFFICE SOFTWARE AFTER REINSTALLING MY WINDOWS XP.... Now I just might have to
go buy the software to reinstall it, unless I can find it free online
somewhere....

There is probably corrupt data in your System Restore archive.
Unfortunately there is no way to recover the existing restore points
and make them usable. Your best option at this point is to disable
System Restore, reboot the computer, and then turn System Restore back
on again. This will remove all of the existing system restore points
and create one new one. That, and additional restore points created
in the future should be usable.

For more information about System Restore see MVP Bert Kinney's System
Restore pages: http://bertk.mvps.org/index.html

Good luck

You won't find it downloadable for free online; sounds like you were running
pirated versions of the software. Go by it and get all the benefits.

If you used the OEM CD, that would possibly have installed the software
too.. or is there a second CD for installing the purchased software?

Go to OpenOffice.org for a fair replacement for Office software.

Hi Steve,

Try running System Restore from Safe Mode.
Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start
your computer in Safe Mode.

Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that
has administrator credentials.
In Safe Mode type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box then
press Enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

There are also other possibilities that can cause this to happen. The following
pages have some troubleshooting steps to take.
