Help with query

I am trying to count the # of years of study for each applicant.
Some applicants may have 1 course load listed for each year...but others
have several course loads listed per year...
Ex: Applicant A - January, 2000 - 5 courses

January 2001 - 3 courses
June 2001 - 4 courses
September 2001 - 3 courses

January 2002 - 10 courses

How do I just say 3 years of study (2000, 2001, 2002) instead of getting a
count of 5 years due to several study periods within a 1 year period?

Hi Jacquline,

Hope this isn't over-simplified, but at the point you identify the years
(2000,2001,2001,2001,2002), can't you just slip a DISTINCTROW in there,
thereby giving you only one instance of each?
