Help with program installation

I am attempting to type in the license key to unlock a copy of PowerDVD 7
deluxe. After I finish typing in the serial number and hit the unlock key a
popup window appears that says I do not have administrator privilege to do
that. My user account is listed as an administrator so I am at a loss as to
what I have to do.

I am running Vista Home Basic on a notebook computer. I have disabled and
enabled UAC and all that does is give my a popup asking permissions and such.
I have booted into the safe mode thinking perhaps that is what I had to do.
I was able to install the update just fine. It doesn't make sense that I
can't unlock the program.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior? If so how do I get Vista to allow me
to activate the software?

Right-click on the PowerDVD icon and select 'Run as Administrator'. Enter
your registration key as required. Does it succeed?

Thanks everyone for all the replies. Unfortunately, I had already tried each
of the suggestions and none of them were successful. PowerDVD doesn't prompt
you for the serial number until after the installation when you run it for
the first time. Then when you put in the serial number you receive the error
message.

I did hear back from Cyberlink's technician support with a solution. They
gave me a link to a stand alone version of their software that did not
require the previous version to be installed (version 6 was not Vista
compatible and you received a warning to upgrade when you installed it). The
stand alone version of the product installed and worked flawlessly so this
problem has been solved. I have to commend Cyberlink on the customer support
and their promptness at responding.
