help with problem scanning "thin" slides please ?

Fred

Hi,

On my Epson 1660 Photo I'm trying to scan a series of slides
(dia-positives in Dutch). Old slides to be digitised as a present for
my father.

The (rather old) slides have been used in a projector, they are normal
positives "encased" in small "windows" some even still between glass
covers .. sorry for the non-technical english . .

Problem I'm having is that, after ofcourse putting 4 slides in the
film/slide-holder . . scanner recognises the 4 slides as slides when
they are "thick", but when the slides are encased in "thin"
holders/windows it does not recognise them as such. The preview only
shows vertical small "stripes" ;-(

Is there a software-setting or another trick I'm missing please ?

Thanks for helping,

Fred

Have you tried the Manual mode and manually set the scanning area?

Hoi Fred,

Feel free to ask in Dutch!

There are at least 2-3 very knowledgeable native Dutch speakers in
here and I'm sure nobody will mind if they answer.

Doei! ;o)

Hi, tnx for answering, it works now!

With setting on positive film the 'locate' function is greyed out,
but manually selecting the scanning area works!
That's great, tnx.

Only one drawback with this method ;-)
With the 'other' (thicker) slides in the 'holder' I could do 4 slides at
a time, now I'm limited to manually select them all one by one and scan
them. With a 200+ to go . . ;-(

I'll do it this way if I have to, still wonder why the slides-holder
doesn't separate them.

Cheers,

Hoi Don,
tnx

xal ff kijken of men meeleest . . vraag lijkt me wel duidelijk ;-)

de diahouder 'separeert' dikke ingeraamde dia's wel en dunne niet,
althans die worden dan niet herkend in de preview en in de scan ;-(

wie weet waarom niet, en hoe dat op te lossen?

cheers

I'm curious too! :)

Come on Bart, Wilfred... Don't let him down now!

Seems he has already solved it. Besides I have no experience with Epson
scanners and very limited experience with scanning 35mm slides on
flatbeds - even if my Dutch is fluent ...
