Help with Nero Burning and ISO file

Trying to create an image file from an ISO. Followiing the instructions from
another contributor where by it is stated that one need only do the following:

File > Burn Image > choose ISO file from hard-disk and start burning.

That did not work for me. Resultant "image" with an nrg extension only went
to my hard-disk and not the CD. Had to copy te nrg file to the CD!

Does one have to create a bootable CD from the slipstreamed file. The slip
streamed file (using autostreamer) was formed from an OEM bootable XP Pro SP1
install/upgrade CD and the downloaded 270MB XP SP2 file. The slipstream
create seemed to go fine.

Any help / suggestions most welcome!

Many thanks.

In Nero you choose to write files to a CD or to the hard disk, if the hard disk you can choose ISO or NRG on most CD types (certainly on data CDs).

An ISO file is an image file!! Just burn it onto CD. And if you copy .nrg
file to Cd, it won't even work.

Use the boot file (Microsoft Corporation.img) from your XP CD. Check out
this web site under 'ISOBuster'.

Actually the above site goes through the entire slipstreaming process
including how to set up Nero 6 or Roxio 5 to burn the slipstreamed disk.
I used Nero 5 without a problem using the information on the site it
just looks a little different.

Locate and install Autostreamer. This will re-create a slipstreamed ISO
image file correctly, with the correct boot loader. Then, in Nero, or Nero
Express, open the new image file and follow the process to "burn" to CD (or
CD-RW for testing).

An ISO IS an image file, in theory, of all the contents of a working cd
disk if created correctly.

Simply burning an image file like an ISO directly to cd disk like you do
for data WILL NOT RECREATE the image.
