While installing Win Xp, after finished formatting the
drive, this error message appears:

---------------

The following value is the .sif file used by setup is
corrupt or missing.

Value 0 on the line or section: source disc file, with
key, "sp1.cab."

setup cannot continue

-------------

this means nothing to me. what could be the problem and
is there a solution? we've tried both a quick format and
a normal format with the same results. please help!
thanks!!!

Generally, failure to install an MS operating system (if you've tried
with a clean, formatted disk and that's what my interpretation of your
"normal format" is) means faulty hardware. Start by testing the RAM - I
like Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com - let the test run for an
extended (like overnight) period of time - unless errors are seen
immediately. If the RAM is bad, replace it. If the RAM is good, test
the hard drive with a diagnostic utility from the mftr.'s website.

Cheers,

Malke
