first, if this is the wrong place to post this question please tell me

Recently ive had problems on the hotmail page where i view my mail
when i click on any mail message, nothing happens
this is also for buttons like delete, junk, send to...
some dont even show themselves as buttons(no hand)
just a guess, but i think it might have somthing to do with javascript,
although i dont know what that is

I have to confess that I was doing a bit of tinkering in My Computer, trying
to clean up the temporary internet files folder

Javascript is a programming language commonly used in web pages. If a
page requires it, and many do, Javascript will have to be enabled in you
browser's preferences. Some browsers can categorize domains into
security zones with different Javascript settings in each of the zones.
Specific procedures depend on which browser you are using. Javascript
executes on the client system (your computer) and the source code is
readable in your browser cache or a pop-up your browser can generate.

Respond with the name and version of your browser so that someone with
the same version would be able to provide specific instructions.

Some people confuse Java and Javascript. Java applets are compiled code
that is downloaded from the server in a compressed form suitable for
fast execution by an optional Java Interpreter. The source code for Java
applets is not normally accessible in readable form on the client
computer. Java applets might be used by sites with on line chats or games.

Some pages use an alternative to Java applets called ActiveX controls.
the ActiveX controls are only compatible with some of the available
browsers. The security vulnerabilities associated with ActiveX's
additional capabilities have been the subject of some debates.

Web mail clients might require your browser to accept a data format
called a cookie. Most cookies are small data structures that allow the
server to remember who you are as you move between pages, as you would
accessing your various email account folders (message lists) and email
messages. The cookies are stored in a common file on the client
computer's hard drive. Most browsers allow you to clear the cookie file
when you shut down the browser or when you shut down the computer.
