I have a Dell laptop and upgraded to windows XP. I have a
RCA jack on the side of my laptop with a television icon
on it. I want to plug this into my video RCA plug on my
television so I can use the laptop off the much larger tv
screen. Nothing happens when I plug it in. I was told I
had to enable the plug in my display properties?? There
is nothing in my control paqnel display tab for this. Any
ideas on how to enable or how to set this up??

Thank you

BIOS has control for the use of an external monitor.
If this option is set to only use the built-in LCD, you will
have to change that option before the suggestion below
can work."LCD + External" or wording something
similar to that.

If you look closely at your keyboard there is key that
has a Function (Blue Color) that you can click and
it will toggle between the built-in LCD display and the
external video out.

Function is a higher level key definition. You have to
press Function and Hold while pressing the key that
has the monitor selector function. You'll notice the blue
colored icons on a number of the keys. Consult your
owners manual for additional help.

On a laptop there is usually a selection for activating this in the
BIOS. Alternatively if you look at some of the keys (usually the
function keys) you will see symbols pertaining to output choice.

In conjunction with another key (Dont know which one), press the screen
symbol key to cycle between output modes.
