Help with configuring external hard drives

Hi there. I have two external hard drives from Simple Tech. They've both
been hooked up and running fine for a couple of weeks, and the computer
automatically named them the K drive and the L drive. I have disconnected
and reconnected them with no problems. Last night I turned off the entire
system, and when I turned it back on, the computer had switched which it
identified as K and which it identified as L. This causes me many problems,
because some programs (Adobe Premiere) rely on the location of certain files.

Is there any way to manually reconfigure so that the computer switches them
back?

And, I solved the problem myself with system restore -- after the Gateway
tech guy literally said it was a "freak of nature" and he had no explanation
or method for fixing the problem.

Okay, never mind. Sorry to bother you all.

First - 'Gateway tech guys' are typically morons who can barely speak
and/or read English, so stay away unless you like grief and frustration.
One simple way to set up your external drive letters in the sequence you
choose is to unplug them all, then just plug each one back in, in the
order you want. Windows will assign each external drive with the first
available drive letter, in your case 'K', etc..

You could also go into Computer Management and look for Disk Management
to play around with your drive letters there, but be careful and read
all the help before making any permanent changes.

Good luck!
