Help! Win2K crashed!

S

Stephen Goodridge

Hi,

I am a home user and my win2k pro crashed. I have tried
using the repair options but none have worked. Win2k
stops and jsut reboots after loading the first Starting
Windows 200 screen and getting to the end of the progress
bar. I have a copy of the registry and suspect tis might
be the problem ( Although I have not recently installed
anything). I can get to the commad prompt and since I have
2 win2k partitions can actually boot the pc to get at the
data. Even if I have to reinstall windows is there any way
that I can avoid having to reinstall all the software
given that I can get to the system folders?

Thakns for any help you can provide

Just put the win2k pro cd in the cdrom player
Start your pc with as first boot device the cdrom
Choose install win2k
Choose repair excisting win2k install and the setup will
do the rest. (this has prvented me from reinstalling a lot
of times)
Do not choose the first time you see repair (did not work
for me)

because you have 2 win2k partitions the setup will find
two win2k installs but just choose the one you want to
repair.

After all is working again make an image to prevent this
from happening again :)
