SykoSuzie

Hi gang,
I just finished reformatting my WinXP SP2 machine. Got everything nice &
neat. Now I seem to have a problem and I'm hoping someone here will help. I
can see animation just fine in Outlook Express, but animation has ceased to
function in Internet Explorer. I've double-checked all my settings, emptied
my TIF files, checked and rechecked everything I can possibly think of, and
still all I get is an untitled.bmp image where a xxx.gif image should be.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
SykoSuzie

Hi SykoSuzie :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Animation on websites not working:

IE Options>advanced tab>multimedia section>"play animations in web
pages">apply>OK out.

Why don't my animated gifs animate?

Take note of the mention of firewalls like @Guard as others like Zone
Alarm Pro and NIS may also have a disable option.

Are there any solutions to the IE6 missing GIF problem

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Do you have ZoneAlarm Pro installed? If so, open the programme, go to the
Privacy Tab and click on the custom button. Make sure that the option to
block animation is turned OFF.

Other programmes such as @Guard can disable animated .gifs. Ensure there are
no programmes set to disable gifs..

Go to IE tools/internet options/advanced/multimedia. Ensure the option to
show animations is turned on. If no joy, make sure your .gifs are associated
to Internet Explorer - if you click on a .gif in windows explorer, IE should
open to display it. :

Easy way (Doug Knox's script utility):

Harder way:

Go to start/run and type:

regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll (all versions of IE) ... and then

regsvr32.exe /i shdoc401.dll (IE5 upwards)

If using WindowsME the command is:

regsvr32.exe /i thumbvw.dll

After a wait you will get a *succeeded* dialogue box after each command.
Click ok, reboot and see if things are fixed.

Now who would'a thunk it?
Turns out my ZoneAlarmPro was blocking the animations in IE6.
Thank you, Sandi! I'm back in the saddle again.
