Hi All;
i have road runner cable internet at home. two nights ago
I unplugged the router and plug my computer into modem
directly. but i seem to have problem connecting to the
net. I can't renew the ip address, i can not repair the
connection. I spent half an hour on the phone w/tech
support. They also could not tell what it was. their only
guess what that the winsockets may be the problem. Also
when i try to renew the ip address, it says it could
renew "because the communication was tried on something
that is not a socket", or close some thing to this
message. Do i really have to uninstall XP and install it
again. (it is a upgrade version install on top of ME). If
so do i risk anything to be lost, or is it safe thing to
do?
Thanks in advance for all the help and recommendations.
Regards

Caglar

Your error message "because the communication was tried
on something that is not a socket",

WINSOCK is corrupt it needs to be repaired
call back to tech support, it's not hard to fix only
takes about 15 mins to fix.
