Help - user account folder name mismatch

AFJ

Just received my new computer with Home Premium pre-installed. The
seller created a user account with my first name...a name I hate and
do not want as my user name.

So I went into the control panel and changed the account name to one I
would prefer. However, the folder name under users still has my first
name. Explorer won't let me change the name of the folder (as
expected)...so how do I fix that?

Thanks in advance!

There are are already too many functions on your computer that depend on
that folder and its name. Your only choice is to create a new
administrative profile, with the name you like, in Control Panel\User
Accounts. While a bit of a pain, it should be less hassle on a computer
which is pretty new, than doing it on a computer with, say, five years of
stuff on it.

Caution: all your files from Documents, Favorites, Pictures, anything
sitting on you old Desktop, etc., are in that old profile. The files will
have to be moved to the appropriate corresponding folders in your new
profile. Some of your programs, like Mail, will have to be re-configured.
System user preferences will have to be re-configured. Once you're
satisfied that you've moved all the files that you want to keep from the Bad
Name folder to the new Good Name folder, you can delete the old profile and
it's main folder and subfolders, using Control Panel\User Accounts.
