Help trying to archive?

B

Brett

I keep getting this in my failed archive log:

The operation failed.

Error while archiving folder "SomeFolder" in store "Personal Folders". Some
items could not be copied. They were either moved or deleted, or access was
denied.

What exactly does the above mean? That folder does exists.

Thanks,
Brett

It means that an item that autoarchive was trying to access in "SomeFolder"
is corrupt in a way that doesn't allow archiving to access it.

Is there a way to find out the particular item? Or how else can I get
around this?

Thanks,

Create a new folder to hold the items from "SomeFolder". Select some of the
items in SomeFolder and attempt to move them to the new folder. Either it
will succeed or it will fail. If it succeeds, move some more. If it fails,
reduce the selection and try again. Eventually you'll find out which item
is causing the problem and can ignore it. Once you've moved everything but
the corrupt item, you can delete the old folder.

Yep, I see the trial and error is working now. However, the PST file isn't
really shrinking. How do I decrease the overall PST file size?

Thanks,

Right-click the PST root in the Navigation Pane and choose Properties.
Click Advanced, then Compact Now.
