I crashed the computer and have gotten it running but can't get it t
find the CDROMs. I can boot from a CD drive but once in windows can'
access the drives. Under devices there is a cross across the drivers.
Each time I try to update them it won't allow me to. I also can'
successfully install the printer driver (just like the CDROMS) I get a
error when installing them and am told the installation wa
unsuccessful. Where do I start? I tried to reinstall XP but continu
to have the problem. I may have screwed up the registry somehow base
upon some recommendations from CNET but can't recover my set up.
Please help. Thanks

Alright, let's start with the basics.

- What do you mean by "Can't get it to find the CD-ROMs?"
- Does the "Driver Status" give you any information?
- Any other driver/device related problems going on?
- Does any/all of your CD burning/imaging software still work?

When I go to windows explorer or media player, the drives do not show
up. When I try to run a program (e:setup) from start the drive is not
available and I can't access the drives to find a file. I've gone to
the system file and under hardware the drivers are named for the drives
but but have a yellow ! over them. If I try to update them, wizard says
it isn't possible. Same for my printer. When I uninstall them, wizard
goes through process but says installation was incomplete.
