Help: starting to write PowerPoint macros

Are there any good books or programmer guides that provide a "big picture"
overview to writing PPT macros that describes how to access and use
PowerPoint VB (VBA?) objects and methods along with sample code or examples?

I am investigating how to write PPT macros. I have some macros already
written and am being asked to write new ones.

Also, I have the VBA Developer's Handbook (1997). Is there a newer version
or some such book dedicated to PowerPoint?
