Help: Start Up takes 3 minutes! Plus Password Question

I know this has probably been asked before, but how can I stop the multiple
programs from starting when I turn on my computer? Start up takes forever. I
would rather just select the program to start it later then have it be an
icon on the task bar. Will this fix stop it from starting everytime I boot
the computer?

Also, how do I bypass the Windows XP password screen? I'm always asked to
log in my name. I've tried removing it with no success. It says that there
must be at least an Administrator.

Please help!!

Thanks!

Hi,

1) Start/run msconfig and go to the startup tab. Uncheck those you do not
want loading at boot.

2) Start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes).

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.
