HELP! Slow printing

I hope this is something very simple to fix. I have Windows98 and a HP
officejet v40 (Print,fax,copy,scan). It prints extremely slow and I
can't figure out how to make it faster. It printed fast the first
couple times I used it, but now is very slow (2min/page). Any help or
ideas would be appreciated.

Check to make sure that plain paper is selected n the driver; if photo paper is
selected the printer will print much slower.

If the printer pauses for 5-10 seconds at the end of every print swath it
indicates a defective cartridge.

You should also check and make sure that you have adequate disk space on your
CO: drive and that the drive is defragmenter.
