Help saving files to last folder saved to!

I work with thousands of photos and use an external hard drive. Everytime I
want to save a picture Vista always goes to "My pictures". XP always went
back to the last folder that I saved to. I cannot figure out how to make
Vista return to the same folder. It is extremely time consuming to go back
through the whole procedure just to
get back where I was. How can I change Vista so I do not have to click
several times to get back to the folder that I am saving to?

Try something different: move "Pictures" to the external drive.

Find "Pictures" on your system drive (C:\Users\YOU\Pictures

Right-click it

Thank you for your response. Although it saved me a few steps it still is not
doing what I want it to do. I still have to click each time down to the
specific folder I was at before. All the extra time it takes to get back to
where I was is costing a lot of extra time and money. Does not Vista have an
option somewhere to set the return "Save as" back to the folder you just
saved to? As big as Vista is, and memory hog, one would think something as
simple as saving a file would be much simpler like it was in XP.

How are you saving these pictures?

Both Windows Photo Gallery and WLPG have settings for where you import
photos.
File - Options - Import

When I copy/move files, I open 2 Windows Explorer windows.

Now it's "Save as" that you're having a problem with. In your
original post, it appeared to be "Save".

Everything changes, including software. Get used to it, because
everything will continue to change.

For every person who wails about change there are probably 10 who
welcome it.
