working , it just hangs there.

Hi,

So logon as admin or with admin priviledges and reestablish permissions for
that user. You may need to take ownership first. You need to take ownership
of them. Right-click the folder, select properties. Go to the security tab
and click advanced. You can take control of the folders on the owner tab.
For the security tab to appear in a WinXP Pro system, you must disable
simple file sharing in the control panel/folder options/view tab. For a
WinXP Home system, you must restart in safe mode and logon as administrator.

As to System Restore, once SR goes bad, the only thing you can do is stop it
and restart it. Start/run services.msc, locate the SR service and
doubleclick it. Click the stop button, then set the startup type dropdown to
disabled. Click apply/ok, then reboot. Reverse the steps to restart it.

Be forewarned that doing this removes all existing restore points, but it
doesn't really matter as they weren't working anyways.
