I recently plugged in my ethernet connection and realised my connection
wasn't there. I uninstall the hardware and reinstall it but it still doesn't
work, it says it can't start?
Can anyone help
I have downloaded recent drivers to which it still doesn't work from HP and
realtek.
I'm running windows xp on a compaq presario 2267ap.
The ethernet connection is wired direct to the motherboard.
HELP

might try going into Device Manager and uninstall the device.
shutdown the computer , wait 3-5 minutes.
power it back and allow the computer to find and install the device.

Still hasn't resolved the issue. How do i disable it from BIOS?

Everytime i install the device it fails installation. When i have the device

Sounds like the device has failed. Since 1) you have a desktop; and 2) a
replacement PCI NIC is under $15 USD - buy a replacement NIC. Uninstall
your onboard NIC from Device Manager and shut down. Install the PCI NIC.
Start the computer and press the correct key to get into the BIOS. Find
the entry for onboard peripherals and disable the onboard NIC. Restart
the computer and boot into Windows. Install the new NIC.
