I had outlook 2002 and probably due to oversized pst files
outlook didn't work anymore , it hanged .I wasn't aware
that this was the problem and upgraded to outlook 2003
thinking that might solve the problem . I am still without
my contact and e-mails .
I tried " inbox repair tool " , but when I clicked on
repair I get the msg : "an error has occured ... "and it
closes without repair .
I tried to clip the size of the file . I am already at
1.95 and still if I try to import the clipped file I get
now : " this file is not compatible with this personal
information system "

HELP !! What Should I do to revover my items . Thanks in
advance ,

It might be that you took your pst from a CD-Rom? Make sure that read only
is off (right click, properties)

Your .pst file always needs to be able to be written to. if you open it
outlook writes to it.

At this point you may need to use the crop tool or a hex editor on your .PST
file to delete some of the data out of it and make it small enough to repair
and open. Outlook 2003 has a new Unicode .PST file format that allows for
much larger data stores, but simply attaching your old .PST file to Outlook
2003 won't do anything since that particular file is and always will be in
the old format, and can only handle 2GB.

Look here for the information you need to hopefully recover at least some of
your data:
