Looking for specific product recommendations to accomplish final config
below. I moved 3 of 4 wireLAN PCs from my house to a new backyard ofc.
Machines are HOM1-2-3-4, HOM1-3-4 are W2k, HOM2 is NT4SP6a, easily
upgradeable to W2k if needed (just haven't gotten to it. My wife's happy
with NT4.) Want to go to cable access, ICS on 4 machines, use current
wireLAN as below, and install one wireless link as below.

I know I can spend a couple days on the web at many sites figuring this
out; I've already spent some time doing that. I'm a few years behind the
curve on cable & wireless connectivity, though, and I think to someone
with recent experience it's a trivial problem. I'm hoping someone here
can save me some time, for example (since I must use a cable modem
installed by the access provider) exactly what additional gear I may
need for HOM1 and HOM2 to get the wireless link and ICS I'd like.

In the house I had no ICS:

[HOM1]--wire--[HOM3]--wire--[HOM4]--wire--[HOM2]
NIC + NIC NIC NIC +
dialup dialup
modem modem
line 1 line 2

Current 2-building setup has no ICS:

[HOM1]--wire--[HOM3]--wire--[HOM4] [HOM2]
NIC + NIC NIC NIC +
dialup dialup
modem modem
line 1 line 2

I'd like to set this up with ICS on all 4 machines:

[HOM1]--wire--[HOM3]--wire--[HOM4] [HOM2]
NIC + NIC + NIC + NIC +
ICS + ICS ICS ICS +
cable wireless
modem + connection
wireless ^
connection------------wireless--------------^

I'm not worried about wireless distance here; it's about a 60' throw
across a clear backyard windowsill-to-windowsill and I can boost/focus
antennas if I have to. It's a residential area and I expect no
significant EM Interference. I also know W2k is fully equipped for ICS
software; not worried about that.

I just don't know the hardware specifics well enough to be able easily
to select simplest/cheapest product types and which brands might best
suit the case for connectivity/ICS behind a cable modem.

Be very grateful for any pointers, and TIA. Meanwhile, I'll be slogging
around the net trying to figure this out. Fortunately time's no big
problem. :-)

(Posted similarly in m.p.w2k.networking last week, got 1 response but no
product direction. Nice response, but poster probably assumed I knew
more than I do.)

Get a wireless router and forget ICS. You'll have ports for wired as well as
the wireless signal. Look at Linksys for wireless routers.

Thanks, John. I'll look into that pronto.
