Hi, Is there a procedure that needs to be done before re-
formating the hard drive and re-installing Windows XP so
that I don't lose the activation license?
Many Thanks
Andy

If you're reinstalling you can simply call MS to re-activate your OS if it
tells you that the key has already been used. It will give you the option
to activate by phone.

If you reformat, you start a new 'instance' of Windows, and (in spite of
suggestions that may be made about storing away wpa.dbl) you will have
to activate again, which will go through on the net in seconds, just
like the first time, provided you have not made a *lot* of changes to
hardware. To conserve one 'vote' that might prove the last straw, see
the hint in 'Format a Hard drive' at www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm
