Help: Power Meter: Explorer.exe - Application Error Continuous

Help. Out of the blue my computer started generating this error.
Power Meter: Explorer.exe - Application Error Continuous, Memory could not
be read error.

I am not displaying the power meter. The system is Win XP Pro SP1 with all
the patches installed. The error recurs and keeps crashing my desktop
continually.
One interesting work around, if I boot in debug mode the error does not
occur.

Any suggestions on how to remedy the situation. I do not need the power
meter, but I am not sure how to disable the service.

Apparently, the March 3, 2004 security patch fixed this problem.
