Hi,

WTB one of these 9800 pros. All nicely priced... However, could some
kind soul(s) please assist in confirming which of these 128mb cards
have 256MB memory bandwith and which have the lesser 128MB memory
bandwith. Am worried that I might inadvertently purchase one of these
cards to find it has a lame bandwith :

It's not bandwidth and it's not measured in MB. It's bus width, and is
measured in bits.

Specifically says 256 bits memory bus. Also says PowerColor and Sapphire.
Odd. It's a Sapphire box.

Also 256bits wide.

I'd just like to point out that that card is a 128MB card, as the main
description states. Not a 256MB one as the detailed description says. It's
also 128bit, thus the lower price compared to the other (256bit, SKU
122901) 128MB Sapphire card.

I got this confirmed from my local (norwegian) Komplett branch just a few
days ago.

256bits

It's the 128bit version. This is a link to the same SKU on the norwegian
site: http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.asp?sku=300462&cks=SER

Notice how the subject above the box graphic specifies 128bit. The SKU
(varenummer) number is identical and I've confirmed it's a 128bit card.
Unless the store responded with wrong information, that is.

I didn't realise Sapphire were partaking in this redicuous practice. The
Pro should be 256bit memory bus.

I think it's a con designed to trick customers. The se has always been the
one with half the memory bus width.

Indeed. I dug through both Ati and Sapphire's webpages without being able
to find a single reference to a 9800pro 128bit card. Even searched for the
manufacturer's unit number, but couldn't find anything more detailed than
the amount of RAM on it, on both sites.

Considering the price difference is nearly non-existent, the 128bit version
doesn' t have the right to exist, if you ask me.
