I use IE 6 with win XP and until recently has been fine. But in the last few days it is taking ages to open web pages. Have defraged, emptied temp internet files and cookies, but to no avail. I dont have a virus, and anyway everything else is working fine inc outlook express and fast. Only thing I have done recently is to intall zonealarmspro instead of norton.

Would it help to reinstall ie6 do you think? Anyone come up with any other ideas? Please!!

Having the same issue. If you put http:\\ before the
address it will work much faster. Anyone know how to fix
this so that it searches http first?

Many thanks for those tips. I have tried unticking the box and already use spybot AND adaware regularly!! The sites I use a lot do start with Http too.

But pages still awfully slow to load which never used to be the case.

Am I a lost cause????

Make sure your version of AdAware and Spybot are current.

You may need this removal tool.

More: Removal tool: http://www.merijn.org/files/cwshredder.zip

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

You have dsl? do a power cycle.

Zone Alarm can tell you how to get rid of the Norton files that are apparently
causing your problems.
