Correct, but hardly worth the trouble. Using a lower
resolution is
easier and doesn't involve manually changing fonts, icon sizes,
etc.

It's your choice of course, and I'm not trying to convince you to
change what you do if you're happy that way. But changing these
things is easy, and the result is not necessarily the same as
running at a lower resolution. Because you have manual control
over *what* things you change the size of, you can get more
screen real estate *and* text that remains readable. To *me*,
it's worth the (very slight) trouble, but YMMV.

Very likely, if you were born before 1935.

Nope, I was wrong. We're very close in age, but you're two years
older than I am.

Use tables to place all your content in and set its width to 100% rather
than in pixels, at least that way the content will stretch to whatever
resolution users are viewing at.

Hi, Thanks in advance for helping me.

My problem is this: I made a website, it looks good and everything fits
good in the screen OF MY COMPUTER. But, when other users view it in their
computers, they say that it's too damn big that they have to scroll back and
forth to read the site. WHY IS THAT??? CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME???

Here is the link to the site that I'm talking about:

THANKS...
I did not see any problem viewing your site. It looked A-OK

I'm happy! Before I got my 19" I had to run 600x800 resolution, the
higher resolution on the 19" is plenty for me.

I agree, and a users experience is completely subjective. I was
just trying to point out that some of us older people (40+) like
running at the smaller sizes so that we can do more things at one
time.

Hey, you're just a kid! And I can't do more than one thing at one
time, multitasking for me is downloading a file while pouring another
cup of coffee....
My wife's mother runs at 800x600 on a 17" monitor, my wife
at 1024x768 on a 19" LCD, but it would drive me nuts to run at
that res.

Those are exactly the sizes I ran on those size monitors.

BTW, what you describe as a "drive" might be only a short putt! <GD&R>

actually, the 100% width on table would do more damage, than good...
especially if you have a font, image or item in a place that is perfect for
you and the way the site looks as well as functions.

when the browser shrinks... all the letters, images and stuff w/in the page
shrink along with it, thus giving you a convoluted mess of a page.

go to http://www.yahoo.com and shrink the browser, you would notice the
layout stays the same no matter what.
the page is designed for a viewer of 800 px wide and almost 1000 px high.

as a multimedia designer, i would recommend the 800 x 600. there would be
others that may disagree...

I suggest that on the top of your web page, you tell your readers to make
their text size MEDIUM to view your web page correctly. This can be done by
clicking on VIEW, then TEXT SIZE. - REGARDS, DOUG M
