I am having a huge problem with my Windows Explorer, the problem is as follows:
-Immediatley when I turn my computer on I recieve a windows explorer prompt
saying that 'WE has encounterd a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for
the inconvenience'.
-after clicking dont send, or even send error report, my computer makes like
it is going to shut down and then goes right back to my desktop, only to be
promped again two seconds later with the same message.
-I am currently running a norton virus protection and have scanned for
virus' umpteen times, started in safe mode(same things happens there), even
run the acces IBM page before startup to check all diagnostics and all
reports come out A-OK.
***I am able to run almost all programs, however, am constantly having to
recharge the screen by clicking 'dont send', and starting over.

So, am I screwed? What can I do? thank you so much.

Have you done a thorough spyware scan? Antivirus software will not detect
most spyware or scumware. Often these little apps are set to run at startup
and can be very poorly coded software resulting in a crash. Check Jim
Eshelman's site here for information and links to tools you can use

How does a system restore work, what do I do, someone else suggested a
spyware scan, what do you think?

Spyware...at least that is something that would most likely be the culprit.
Try Safemode with Network support and then download 2 Spyware apps (you can
find a couple free ones online (ad-aware or MS anti-spyware are both free).
Run the scans after clearing your internet cache and your history files.

A scan for spyware is always valuable, but if it's happening in safe mode
too, then it's not going to be a problematic startup program.

To do a system restore

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Choose "Restore my computer to an earlier time" and then click "next"
Look for a point in bold prior to your problems on the calendar.

Make sure you've chosen a System Restore sufficiently far back in time, if
you have one ie not just yesterday.
Try the furthest one back in time that you have.

If you've tried that, then things aren't looking good. Time for backing up
all your important documents to disk.

Try a spyware scan, with the free Spybot

Also have a think about what you may have done recently that may have
triggered it eg new hardware, installing new software, deleting half the
registry etc
