It's possible that the boot device sequence is wrongly set in the BIOS.

Also, have a look at the Boot.ini file to see if that is correct for the
drive and partition that Windows is in. To access the Boot.ini file, right
click "My Computer", select Properties and then the Advanced tab. In the
Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button. In the next box,
click the Edit button to open the Boot.ini file in Notepad.

A non uncommon annoyance. If you have Quicktime installed, open it and
clear the recently used items, under the FILE menu|OPEN RECENT. Clear
Menu is at the bottom of the list.

If that doesn't solve it, and the PC has a removable drive, try
reassigning "Z" as the letter for that drive.
START button|ALL PROGRAMS|ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS|COMPUTER MANAGEMENT|DISK
MANAGEMENT (at the left).

Select the drive in question. Click on the ACTION menu|ALL TASKS|CHANGE
DRIVE LETTER.

Still no joy? Place media in the removable disks, and leave it there.
Examples: Leave a card in a card reader; leave a Jaz disk in a Jaz
drive, etc.
