Help Please (cyclic redundancy check )

For some reason several of the files on my computer are
behaving strangely. Anytime I select the file the
computer freezes for quite some time. I can't even delete
these files. They come up with an error (Cyclic
Redundancy Check) They are causing me greif as they are
part of the files that need to be updated in my
briefcase. How can I delete these files and start over.
