Running Outlook 2000 under Vista. Can't properly receive emails with pdf
attachments - the pdf comes through embedded into the email itself, shows up
as pages of gibberish. The same email comes through properly to other
computers in our office. Anyone know of any settings that could be adjusted
to fix this problem?

Since Outlook 2000 is not supported on Vista, all bets are off. It seems as
though your installation of OL 2000 is being confused by something in the
MIME headers.

Are you scanning incoming mail with mail scanner integrated with Outlook?
If so, and you're allowed, uninstall it and reinstall it without the mail
scanning feature.

Appreciate the response, Brian, but I'm afraid you're a little beyond me.
I've no clue about the mail scanner - how would I find out if it's installed?

Should mention that if a pdf attachment is received on one of the other
office pc's (running XP), then forwarded to the Vista pc, it comes through
just fine. (??!?)

What he means is an integrated antivirus scanner.

Look in the configuration of your antivirus program. AV programs usually
have a "command center" or "preferences" that indicate which components are
active.

One explanation of that is that it's getting repackaged by the sending
Outlook which corrects any ill-formed MIME headers.
