Help! Outlook sending duplicate emails (9)

D

Don Smith

When I send emails in Outlook, it is sending multiples, 9 to be exact,
every time. This is a nightmare because I send email messages to my
club and I get many angry recepients. Help! I have Outlook 2002 SP3.

See if shutting down the AV email scan will stop this issue. You will still be protected.

Then check your firewall settings to see if it is checking mail. If yes,
disable that.

Don't have a firewall. The last message to the group kept sending the
message over and over (167 time) until I shut down Outlook. I kept
holding the message in the outbox and resending it.

Rather, Outlook kept holding message in outbox and resending it.

Try lengthening the server timeout value (on the Advanced tab of your
account properties) and the send/receive interval.

You don't think this was a virus of some sort? I have sent this type
message for a long time and not had a problem.

No, I don't, especially if it's a message in your Outbox. Most viruses that
generate mail contain their own mail agent and don't use Outlook to send
their payloads.
