Help: Outlook 2007 can't open .pst file

I'm trying to open some .pst files that I created in OL 2003. I get a
message the the file is corrupt (even though is still opens fine in 2003)
and that I should run scanpst.exe - which as far as I can tell, doesn't
exist under Vista/Office 2007 (or is it just not loaded by default - I'm
still looking into that). In any case, the file in question is only about
850 Megs so It shouldn't be a file size issue. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. I did reply to someone else's message that was
similar (you know how they hate multiple posts) but I didn't get any reply
but this one is identical to my problem. Hopefully we will get some reply
now. In my case I created old format pst files just in case I needed to
read them on a computer that only had OL 2000. But OL2007 is said to be
able to read that format anyway.

Try what the message suggested. Use scanpst.exe. It most certainly exists in
Outlook 2007.

Hi Russ:

Thanks for your response. I've done a search for scanpst.exe on my computer
and it comes up as file not found. Is it not loaded by default? If it is,
can you provide the path? Let me know. Thanks.

PS: Assuming I do find scanpst.exe and run it on the file(s) - will that
impair my ability to open the .pst file(s) in OL 2003?

Ok:

Found it:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

It should be in %CommonProgramFiles%\System\MSMAPI\1033 for U.S. English
installations.

I have a similar problem. I had copied my outlook 2003 .pst file to the
Outlook 2007 folder. It was working fine up until yesterday. Now it can't
open my .pst file. I located and rant the scanpst.exe but my system keeps
saying it wasn't able to finish repairing it and it still won't open. Any
options? I am using Vista Ultimate on this machine.

Thanks.

How big is the .pst file?
