HELP on closing Outlook 2003

Whenever I try to close Ofiice Outlook 2003, I get a pop-up message that
states, "Could not complete the operation. One or more parameters may not be
valid." I hit "ok" and another pop-up appears that states something about not
being able to save a note.

Now I can't even get that message to appear. It won't close through File,
Exit nor with the x icon in the upper right.

HELP.
 
Does Outlook open/close normally in safe mode?

How to start Outlook in safe mode:
Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe > ok button
