This is a very basic question, but the Customize Outlook Today button
doesn't do anything when clicked (I'm using Outlook 2K).

I have a fresh install of Office 2K and everything else (including
other apps) works fine.

Can someone give me starting point for fixing this? Am I missing an
Add-In or something?

Thanks
Jim

My favorite question! The answer will appear in either Google or
Microsoft's KB searching for the phrase "Customize Outlook Today".
But, to save you additional time, here's what you are looking for :)

OL2000: You Cannot Customize Outlook Today After You Install Critical
Update 813489 for Internet Explorer:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;820575

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for your replies.

However, I don't have Critical Update 813489 and applying Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article -
820575 to the registry doesn't work? Basically, my problem remains.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. In case it's important, my work
PC uses Win2K.

(My home PC runs XP and the fix you describe works on that one)

Thanks
Jim

Unfortunately, that's the only solution to the problem I've
encountered - hopefully someone else has a solution for you. Best of
luck!

Um, while you are correct on the former, sadly you are mistaken on the
latter, at least in the first 150 articles it displays. I've tested this in
the past and I just now retested, using both the "Outlook" and "Outlook
2000" categories, with the phrase "customize outlook today" including all
words, full text, and 150 results. Even specifying "Title Only" it does not
appear and those words _are_ in the article's title. I have never found a
search in MS's KB that will generate a reference to article 820575, with the
exception of selecting "Article ID" and entering "820575" as the search
string.

Weird, I just did a search on support.microsoft.com, using the search
field on the left, and put in "Customize Outlook Today". 3rd article
down is the one I referenced. Not sure why it wouldn't have come up
for you, but its there when I try a search. Ah well, at least we know
the answer (usually, at least) to the problem :)

Think I have too much time on my hands? I do. I tried your method,
and sure enough the article isn't there. Very strange that it shows
up if you DON'T specify anything, but if you tell it to look where the
article SHOULD be, it doesn't work. I'm guessing they need to do a
little fine tuning of their search functionality.

Happy Friday!

I searched using "All Microsoft Products" and did, indeed, find the article.

At least it's consistent doing it that way, but it really should come
up if you limit your search to the appropriate category. Maybe
someone over there will read this, and fix it....what do you think?
