Help needed for Messenger on PPC and Smart Phone emulator

I am trying to connect to messenger service on Pocket PC
emulator and Smartphone emulator, which comes along Pocket
PC 2003 SDK and SmartPhone 2003 SDK respectively.

On both I am able to access Internet by configuring a
SOCKS 5 proxy. But when ever I try to sign in to messenger
it gives me a connection error.

Any pointer or directions to resolve this issue is
appreciated
