Hi,
I have a strange problem with my system (windows xp pro)...
During a normal working session my internal speaker beeps.
These beeps are not equal in frequency or duration. Sometimes there are no
beep for hours, and sometimes there are several beeps in a minute, especially
at start up.
The beeps most regularly sound like a "cheep" rather than the beeps which
POST uses for diagnostics.

This is not occuring during POST but has now started occuring when the black
"loading windows xp" screen comes up.

I am fairly sure that I don't have a virus and I've done a basic HDD health
check with no problems. I have also monitored the PC Temperature stats for a
week with no "major" high temps (all below 60degC, and then only at high
processing times)

Is anyone able to help me? Or suggest a good (cheap or free) diagnostics
program?

Thank You!!!!!!

Hi,

A) Check your motherboard manual as to what they might mean.

B) Check the system memory, it may be faulty and causing the system to throw
alarms.

Could very well be a fan starting to fail. Have you pulled the cover off the
PC and listened for the sounds?
