Sounds like you should take a look at "Help and Support" in your start menu.

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\History

Hi... the more I use XP, the more I hate it. Everything
is complicated and hidden. I am trying to find
my "history" file. With windows 98, I just did a file
search for that word. Nothing comes up now. Any
suggestions?

Are you referring to Internet History?
Open Internet Explorer > Tools >Internet Options > Look under General
tab : >History

In IE click Tools, Internet Options, General Tab

If you are referring to IExplorers history of visited sites, while Internet
Explorer is open, use control+H to display the history in a left-side pane.
Or click the sundial icon in the toolbar if it is displayed.
