I am trying to find the file containing the address book
in Outlook 2000. My old computer was badly damaged and
written off, I managed to save the hard drive but am
unable to transfer the address book to my new computer.
I have connected the old hard drive to the new computer
Via am adapter to the USB port and am able to access the
drive but am unable to find the file with the address
book. Can anyone tell me where it is and how i can
transfer the address book information to my new computer
so i can use it in my new computer in outlook XP

I'm presuming you were using Outlook Express - do a search for *.wab. Also
might want to post in an OE group for best results....

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:

.

On your new computer, under Outlook Services, add a new personal address
book, and when you get to the point where it browses to where the address
book is or will be, then you will know where to place the old one from your
old drive, which should be found under the same folder path.
It should end in .pab
This is assuming that you were using Outlook 2000 before also.

If that doesn't work, place the .pab file somewhere and use Outlook to
import from it.
