I am trying to delete a large backup file but cannot do so. The windows
error message relates to a smaller file within the large file. It states it
cannot be deleted because "The Directory is not Empty".

What can I do to get rid of this file? Thanks

If XP Home Edition - Boot Safe Mode, Use Explorer to reach the
top level directory you wish to remove. Right Click, then Properties
,Security Tab - Add yourself or (Administrators) to the Rights listing.
Then "Grant" the user Full control.
Afterwards you should be able to delete the parent & child folders.

Sometimes you must delete from the lowest level of the tree upward.
Start at the lowest level folder, delete all content, then navigate up &
remove the folder and repeat until the entire tree is removed.
