I need Help

I purchased a new computer on July 21 of this year. It
has windows XP. However, I do not see an option for me
to create presentations like I could do in Microsoft
Windows. I need that function for work.

In addition, my instructor returned a paper to me with
edits. It's a word base document. I have not been able
to figure out how to get any program to show the edits.
Please help me!

Thanks

The functions you refer to are not and never have been a part of Windows.
Windows is an Operating System. The programs you need are Application Programs
and from Microsoft are part of Office which is available at your local
retailer. There are Academic versions available at reduced cost and you can
find free programs as well. Use Google or the search engine of your choice to
help you locate some.

Connie, are you pulling our leg?

Windows = Operating system (yes, it comes with Internet Explorer and a few
other programs)

Offce, Word, Excel, etc. = Applications for Office Productivity

-Windows is like a shell or framework. Applications are SEPARATE and work
within that shell. You buy them separately! (Often, when you buy a
coumputer, it comes with Windows and some applications preloaded on the hard
drive, but rarely PowerPoint. You would have to buy it. I am quite surprised
that your instructor did not inform you of this prior to the first class
meeting.
-If you had these applications on another computer, they are still on that
machine. Chances are, you can transfer them over, but it would be better if
you could find your CD-ROM (disk) for the applications, if it exists. Then,
just put the disk in your CD drive and go. The applications need to be
Windows 1998 compatible.

Connie, It sounds as though you didn't get the Microsoft
Office suite with your new computer. Windows (no version)
has Word or presentation software built into it. You'll
need to buy MS Office for XP. Sorry.

The last PC you bought came with a bargain priced Office to help sell
their PCs _and_ get you addicted to MS office programs, [even tho you
may not have even paid for them].

Now that you are hooked, its time to pay MS.
