HELP!! I need help w/Conditional Formatting

I am pulling my hair out over this...

E & F need to be conditionally formatted based on the information in Q
& R respectively...

CF info

formula is =IF(Q8=1) then color red
formula is =IF(Q8>1) then color green

Why won't this work??? What am I doing wrong??

I've also tried =IF(Q8=1, T, F) and =IF(Q8="1", T,F)

For colour red, you can simply use cell value = 1. If you want to us
formula it will be:

=Q8=1 or
=IF(Q8=1,1,0)

I will let you figure out colour green.
