Hello. Í have forgotten the password for an Word-(97)-document that is very
important to me. I tried some shareware-password-recovery programs but they
only work when your password is less than 4 letters... Mine is longer (I
guess..) Does someone have a solution?? Matthijs (Holland)

Probably there is no "a MUST" solution.
Try to "buy" some password crack/recovery programs which
they would help you to crack the password of your Word
doc.

They should offer you functions to crack more-than-4-
letter password if you buy their products, although I
don't know how effective they are.

There is no way to open the document, which is heavily encrypted, without
the password. If you don't know that password, then only solution is a
password cracker which may prove expensive and extremely time consuming.

The tools at http://www.password-software.com/password-recovery.htm will recover
lost passwords that exceed four characters.

Thanks for your (sometimes cynical...) advices. Tom, the program on the site
you mentioned seems to be ok but costs 65 euros.... I'm lookin' for a less
expensive solultion.. Thanx anyway!!

Is it password protected to open or just to edit it? If
it's just to edit you can open a blank document Insert |
File (being your document) and it will bring it in
unlocked. However if it's to actually open it, then that
trick doesn't work.

Best Regards
