Help for those unable to delete email

Steve Cochran

Stop posting this. That is a sledgehammer approach that destroys the entire
database. Others have reported that if you go to Edit | Empty deleted items
multiple times, then it will clear the deleted items folder eventually.

so Well I am sorry to be of some help. I have tried everything you so called
experts have suggested and nothing worked. This did.

You have to use a judicious approach. Small troubles call for
small fixes. Big troubles may require a sledgehammer, but
only if you understand the possible serious consequences.

Hi Kmarthrn
Yes thanks for trying to help and pass on your results.
However when doing so you must remember that the vast majority of newreaders
have no idea what they are doing, like me, and blindly act on the first bit
of info they read.
The effects can be disastrous as I have found to my cost.
I hope you are able to do something about your database as a result.
Saying what works does help to some degree - but more importantly, what has
not worked for you from all the 'so called experts' that you mention.
But I have learnt, over time, as others will who fail to search these
newsgroups for their problem, and read ALL advice.
That way you get to recognise those who can give sound honest advice and
those who will lead you to disaster.
Your help I immediately read as the former - due to my reading of
newsgroups. The key word for me was 'Dell'.
I would rather keep a bug in my system than take their advice, anymore than
I would update drivers offered by Microsoft.
Four years ago, I contacted Dell 'Tech advice' re buying a computer.
I told them exactly what I wanted it for and I was asked 'What is Flight
Simulation Sir?'
But I would take on board what Steve Cochran says.
Take care
