help fan configuration

ok i got two fan, one is located inside power supply and the second is under
it . the fan on the power supply blow out air outside the computer and the
second big fan suck in air inside the computer. I want to know if the second
fan has the right configuration, does the second fan suppose to suck in air
or does it suppose to blow out air? this computer is an HP computer.
 
One goes in, one goes out. Seems like a reasonable setup. Doesn't have
anything to do with Windows XP though.
 
Hot air rises, so the PS fan is at the top. Blowing air in
at the top will cause air to stagnate at the top. You could
just have a closed loop at the top between the two fans.
Better to have a fan blowing in at the bottom, preferably at
the front so air flows in, through and up. If you replace
the side panel with a clear sheet of glass or plastic (seal
it with masking tape) and use a smoke source to allow you to
see the air-flow you can be sure that the CPU and graphics
cards are not in dead air.

You can't have too cool a computer, but having the fans in
the wrong place can create an eddy that doesn't cool.

Does this second fan, in the rear, pull air into the case and direct
it onto the processor/heat sink? A few years back Dell systems used a
setup like that. The fan for the processor was mounted on the back of
the case; it pulled air into the case, through a manifold and into the
processor heat sink. It looked unwieldy to me, but it did work.
 
inside fan suck hot air out thru the PSU where outside fan blows it out of
the PSU.....normal
The inside PSU fan is usually located right above the processor where the
processor cooling fan blows cool air towards the CPU cooler which draws the
heat away from the CPU and directs it towards that PSU fan.
If you are worried about the temps of your system...look to see if you can
add fans.
A low frontal intake with a high back exhaust helps a lot.

yes the second fan pull air inside the fan duct directly to the processor
heatsink.
do you have the same configuration or different one, because i've look at
some computer and some of them are completely different.
 
I was describing a computer I used to use at work. The Dells we get
now are configured differently.

I have an AMD 64 bit 3200+ processor. The case I have has five fans
running in it:

1. Fan at the front bottom, pulling cooler air into the case
2. Rear PSU fan, blowing heated exhaust air out of the PSU
3. Rear case fan, blowing heated air out of the back of the case
4. Small fan on video card, blowing cool air into the chipset of the
card.
5. CPU cooling fan, blowing cool air into the CPU heat sink.

This may all be overkill, but my system runs nice and cool!
