You may want to set program defaults, using the start menu. Hit start->set
program defaults->default settings. These settings are set by your computer
manufacturer, to ensure windows runs the correct programs for your files.
Also, restarting your computer into Safe Mode, can solve many common problems
(Hitting F8 before windows boots and selecting "Safe Mode").
