HELP: errors woes :S

My friends laptop suddenly started getting errors.

Loading up Windows Media Player can't play movies or MP3s, just get errors
and have to send a error report.

Remote Assistant doesn't even work. Gets errors and shutsdown.

What is going on??? How to solve/fix??
