Help: cryptdll.dll problem

Hi

I am running MicroSoft Windows XP Professional. When I start the computer it
goes straight to a screen that says:

Checking file systems on C: The type of the file system is NTFS
One of your disks needs to be checked etc.......

.....It then goes through many things like this
Deleting orphan file record segment (and a file number)
....Then this
Deleting index entry cryptdll.dll in....

After the disk checking is complete the computer restarts and goes through a
normal start up right up to the point where the small scrolling blue bar and
the Microsoft XP professional logo comes up. Then the screen goes black and
comes up with:

This application has failed to start because cryptdll.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem

After clicking ok on this message nothing further happens besides a black
screen. Restarting in safe mode and last known good configuration does not
work

Any Help will be much appreciated

Download a diagnostic utility from the hard drive manufacturer's
website. This creates a floppy disk. Run the diagnostics from there.
If the disk checks ok then boot from the Windows Installation CD.
Choose the first R for repair. Assume the administrator password is
blank or type in the password if you assigned one. Then run chkdsk /r
on the drive. After that try a repair install. Here are instructions
on doing a repair install:
